Journal History
The Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology (JTIT) was established in 2000 on the initiative of Prof. A.P. Wierzbicki. The journal was assigned ISSN 1509-4553. Its first issues were published as special editions, and Prof. P. Szczepański was appointed Editor-in-Chief. Initially, the Editorial Board consisted exclusively of Polish scientist.
In 2009, the journal introduced an electronic edition, registered under ISSN 1899-8852. For several subsequent years, access to its articles was subject to a two-year embargo.
A major change in the journal's editorial structure took place in 2017, when Prof. A. Kliks from Poznan University of Technology became Editor-in-Chief. At the same time, the composition of the Editorial Board was completely renewed. It was expanded to include representatives of the international academic communities.
Since 2015, the JTIT has been published in an Open Access (OA) model, providing free access to its published content. In 2020, it moved entirely to electronic publishing, discontinuing its print edition. In 2023, the JTIT began using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform under https://jtit.pl domain.
Up to issue 2/2025, the numbering of successive JTIT issues did not include a volume number; starting from issue 3/2025, we have introduced a volume number to designate each issue of the journal. Archived print issues have been digitized, with affiliations and references added.
The costs of publishing the JTIT are covered by the National Institute of Telecommunications. In addition, on several occasions, the journal has received financial support from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education through programmes aimed at promoting scientific knowledge and supporting the development of scientific journals – see Sponsors tab.
